PERENNIAL PLANTING PLANS is the latest addition to the series of eBooks about perennial meadow gardening from Michael King.
Plans clearly illustrate how the plants should be arranged on the ground using symbols. Sometimes the plants are arranged in groups and in others irregularly or at random. The plans give an insight into how to go about creating naturalistic planting schemes that have a powerful visual impact.
PERENNIAL PLANTING PLANS
As in the original series of Perennial Meadows eBooks, theme plants and complementary plants are listed together with their planting densities. The text descriptions explaining in each case the design intention and how the individual plants relate to one another as part of a viable plant community.
30 new, unique planting plans
Plans are arranged into four sections:
Low, Green Carpet Plans
Long, Narrow Borders
Habitat Inspired Plans
Unique to the new perennial planting plans is the inclusion of suggestions for plants to add to the schemes as, so-called, feature plants. When planting schemes are used over large border areas they sometimes benefit from the addition of points of focus. A specimen tree or shrub might be include as an important element in a garden’s design. Also, bold groups, rows or large clumps of additional species of perennials might be included to add a repeating element throughout the surround perennial meadow planting. These feature plants take perennial meadow gardening to the next level.
The plans are detailed and can easily be extended to cover garden borders of any size. The inclusion of complementary plants and feature plants making this a method that is finally easy to implement. Hopefully by working through the designs you will begin to grasp the underlying principles and start designing new, unique plans for yourself.
